Man Of Me

Artist:

Gary Allan

Bassist:

Michael Rhodes

About the song:

“Man of Me” features the talents of the legendary bassist, Michael Rhodes and Chad Cromwell on drums. It was written by Rivers Rutherford and George Teren for Gary Allans fourth album.

The tone on this track consists of a distorted, detuned bass. The distortion is most apparent on the powerchord in the intro and sets us up for some seriously rocking bass. As the song is in E, the reason for the detuned four string bass isn’t immediately apparent, however, the subtle use of the open D string in between the main notes in addition to the gnarly tone are the biggest clues.

This is a great example of the reason Mr Rhodes is one of greatest session players in the world. He always provides exactly the right bassline for the song.
