About the song:

Goodbye Town was released in 2013, as the second single from Lady A’s (then Lady Antebellum), album Golden. Co-writer Josh Kear brought the idea for the song to Hillary Scott, Charles Kelley, and Dave Haywood during a writing session, drawing experience from a girlfriend with whom he broke up during his last year of college.

Michael Rhodes breathes new life into the root and fifth Country bassline cliche with a hook that goes through so many permutations throughout the song that you listen just to see what comes next. And just when you think you know what’s happening, the breakdown comes along in bar 49 with double stops!
