Single White Female

Artist:

Chely Wright

Bassist:

Glenn Worf

About the song:

This song wasn’t on my radar until just recently and was actually a suggestion from fellow TalkBass member Seanmo. Of course when I heard it, I loved it because Glenn Worf has such a gnarly tone that sits so well in the track. There are some great lines but what struck me most about this one, was the interplay with the kick drum. He manages to play with and against it to really accentuate the difference between the verse and chorus sections. Note length is a notable difference between chorus and solo sections too. Such masterful playing.

Glenn is joined by Chad Cromwell (that snare sound!) and background vocalists include Vince Gill, Alison Krauss, Patty Loveless, Trisha Yearwood. It was Chely Wrights only number one single on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts.
