Last Hard Bible, written by Kasey Chambers for her debut album, The Captain. Released in 1999, it featured the talents of Jeff McCormack on Bass and BJ Barker on Drums.
At first, this appears to be straight forward two feel with a standard root and fifth bassline. And while this is the backbone of the song, there are some quirky exceptions that make this unique.
The flat sevenths at the end of each bar on the B chord in the verse and the longer linear approach in the chorus are the stand out ideas that can be repurposed for your own lines, straight off the page. The intangibles, such as groove and tone are unique to Jeff and have definitely influenced my playing over the years through osmosis.
